How do I lose fat without gaining more mass?

I’m a 17 year old competitive female athlete and am continually excercising. I run 4-8 miles a day including an hour or so of weight training and play competitive soccer 4 days a week. I started off being VERY thin and petite and have worked my way to having an athletic built and am bigger than i’d prefer. I’m currently on my off season and it seems my muscle is turning to fat and i’m just gaining mass. How do I lose body fat and get my lean and toned figure back?

hey, you know what? The most unexpensive weight loss thing to do, is to try to burn more calories than you eat, dont eat unhealthy like a 500 calorie diet! All that will do is make you sick, you NEED to be healthy to lose weight properly. Im trying to lose weight too! So basically here are some tips to speed up your metabolism: Drink 1-3 glasses of green tea a day
Try and eat Chilli peppers somehow, ((chilli DUH )) they help.
8 classes of water a day

the more active you are, the faster your metabolism will grow to be.

did you know that breathing for an hour burns 60 calories all on its own? And SLEEP is very important, try to go to sleep on time and get your ages average amount of sleep,. ask your doctor what a healthy weight for you is, and then after you have reached that goal do sit ups and crutches - among many other core excersises, Run to slim out, and make sure you burn more calories than you eat - had to repeat that!

Fruits and veggies are REALLY low in calories and FULL of nutrition. If you like Tacos? Ditch the hard shell, maybe try a taco salad.. without the shell of course! Lettuce with meat is good, but PLEASE try mixing it with turkey and beef so that it isnt all fat. Chicken salad is good, you want the protein but you dont want fried anything really, once in a while if fine but remember - YOU HAVE TO BURN OFF THOSE EXTRA CALORIES. Excersises excersise excersise. Dont over do it - dont starve yourself, be moderate and stay active. GOOGLE: 100 ways to burn 100 calories, their are some pretty cool things you can do!

Stay away from starchy and high carb foods - mostly white things. Bread is a bad, so try to stick to thin, HIGH in fiber, slices :)

you can google all the stuff and before you know it you will feel so good about it all and IM actually excited to start working out and all that, just because I know what it will do for me!

but if you must go with a diet, try Weight Watchers, its the only one I actually recommend. :)

I want to lose fat and tone up my muscles without gaining muscle mass, How do i do it?

I am a relatively BIG structured guy, and i have enough muscle to look like a horse but instead i look like a hippo lol, big and strong but has way to much fat! I have enough muscle for right now but i want to focus on getting cut-up and not gain muscle mass with it! So what do i need to do to lose the fat(not the muscle) and tone up the muscles in my whole body?

How do you lose the fat in your face. Im skinny bout 130 pounds but muscular at age 16 bout 5′6 or 5′7 and have a sorta chubby face. I would love to lose that and get a skinnier face look but how?

that sounds like what people refer to as ‘baby fat’ at your age, and it will probably disappear as you mature and hormones change. there is no way to really lose fat in one area, you lose weight all over when you are in a calorie deficit (using more calories than you eat) and when you don’t have any stored anywhere else, your face will get thinner, too…but are you sure it is fat? puffiness can be from water retention…consuming too much sodium, not drinking enough fluids are things that can cause this.

How much cardio is needed to lose fat and gain muscle?

My BMI is 25. So to gain muscle and lose fat (I want to be at BMI range 18.5-24.9 ), how much cardio should I ideally do and for how long? I usually do 10 min of jogging, but I’m not sure if this will affect gaining muscle or losing fat.
So I do weigtlifting to gain muscle and cardio (for about 10) to lose fat.

25 BMI is close to obese, isn’t it? I could be mistaken. Either way, it’s time for a change. Here’s a 6 day workout routine for you. Mon, wed, Fri. Lift for 30-45 minutes, alternating upper and lower body each different day. after that, jog as many laps around the gym as you can. bring a stop watch. then finish the rest of the time on an eliptical machine, until you reach 30 minutes total. Summary: 30-45 lifting, 30 minutes of cardio

Tues, thurs. sat. walk on a treadmill at 3.5 mph and a 0.5% incline. this will cause more calorie burning.

Sundays: play video games.

follow this and you will shed the pounds.

How to lose belly and chest fat for a male without gaining muscles?

I want to lose fat that makes me look thinner. I don’t want to do any resistant training to achieve this nor do i want to gain mass muscles.
Suggestions?

I always find the best way for me to lose weight is just to start walking a lot more. Just add 30 mins to an hour of walking a few times a week and you will see it fall off pretty fast. I see my unwanted weight gain go fast and since you are male yours will go much faster. It is a great way to loose the weight but not add muscle. If you find you want to start to add muscle tone later on you can always add something more later on:-) Best of luck to you!

How do I lose some muscle and fat while exercising?

Some of my weight consists of the muscles i have built up over my younger years. Now that I am working out more than I used to, I would like to lose some muscle in my calves and legs; how can this be accomplished while also losing fat? Also, is doing the elliptical machine good enough?
My current weight loss program is obviously eating better but using the elliptical machine for thirty minutes two or three times a week.

I don’t really have a problem getting my lower stomach into shape, but I can’t lose the fat from the section right above my belly button. What kind of specific exercises can be used to get rid of that? I already do lots and lots of sit-ups/crunches (both with my legs in the air and on the ground) but I can’t seem to get rid of that!

Any ideas?

Diet Diet!! You can not spot reduce fat, except for lipo ( which I do not recommend ).

You need to eat 5-6 small meals a day. Eat some protein with each meal! Cut out all refined sugar!!! Then exercise regularly 4-5 days a week. Do both cardio and lifting. But on days that you do both. Do lifting before your cardio and you will maximize your fat burn.

So Example :

Monday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio
Tuesday - 1 hour lifting
Wednesday - Rest
Thrusday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio
Friday - 1 hour lifting
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio

How do I lose fat in my legs without making my muscles huge?

I run mostly because i want my legs to get thinner, I literally want them to be very thin, they are not huge or anything just normal but the more I run the more my muscle seems to grow and they look even bigger. Is there any way to get my legs to be very thin, but not lose muscle in an unhealthy way? Or should I keep running …I have no idea? Plus I obviousy want to lose the fat in my legs too.

Years ago while in China, I dislocated my knee and had it plastered for about 10 weeks while I toured during summer. That leg was completely amaciated by the time I got home… I suppose that is what you want yours to look like.. but I can tell you.. I couldn’t walk for ages… the muscles are there for a purpose.

Keep Running. Althletes have a hard time maintaining muscle mass because once the fat is depleted through rigourous training the muscles are all that is left to draw energy from and they soon deplete too. It is a difficult balance between training to gain strength and loss of strength due to lack of available fat to burn for energy.

You could also do squats, cycle and lunges. Vixen is right.. you must stretch… it helps "iron out" the muscle.

Im 17, 208lbs, 6 foot 3, atheistic, however i have some visual body fat around my belly, chest and under arms. I am well built.

I have school with free periods 4 out 5 days , so i can hit the gym then. What should i do to lose this fat and get toned for summer, I just want to lose fat and feel confident, wouldnt mind abs , not fussed about a pack
